Raves are the night parties held in unusual sittings like farmhouses, home basements, or rooftops. The trend of rave parties is flourishing among youngsters. This ever-increasing trend is common among elites and university students, particularly in big towns.

These underground parties push the social boundaries in our country as well. Raising questions on the cultural values and underlying norms of our society. In the quest to seek euphoria young men and women gather together to dance, smoke, drink, and abuse drugs.

Rave or party drugs refer to the type of drugs that are easily found at rave parties. Mostly these are over the counter drugs which can be easily accessed by adolescents to satisfy their euphoria.

Before discussing the rave drugs let me clear the misconception related to the use of OTC medicines since they are being sold over the counter so that’s why we cannot restrict its use and can be used in any desirable manner, dose, or desired combination.

They are only safe if used as per direction and advice. People not only abuse OTC medication but also use OTC products such as Sprays, Shoe Polish, adhesives, paints, petroleum products as a cheap source of satisfying their addictions when ultimately they are unable to buy expensive OTC and other illegal drugs.

Rave Drugs/ Party Drugs

Rave drugs which are available as OTC or an ingredient of OTC medications are:

Dextromethorphan

It’s an active ingredient of cough suppressants and cold relief medication as well. Since it has a Psychoactive effect, an easy way for Ravers to get high and stimulated.

If we talk about the adverse effect, it makes Dextromethorphan more harm than good for Ravers and other abusers. Here’s some of the adverse effect you may face if you abuse DXM.

Fluctuation in blood pressure, Blurred vision, Blackouts, Brain damage resulting from seizures, severe tachycardia (increase and rapid heartbeat), Dizziness, vomiting and elevated body temperature, Slurry speech. If taken in high dose Dextromethorphan can induce Coma and may lead to death.

Pseudoephedrine

To treat Common colds, Decongestions, and allergies Pseudoephedrine is used. Besides this, it’s an active ingredient in the production of Meth Ice (Crystal Meth or Methamphetamine) so its trade and purchasing are strictly monitored.

Pills contain pseudoephedrine easily available at a Night club and Rave parties; because of its stimulant and elation effect, it’s a soft source for ravers to get high and euphoric. You must be aware of the side effects before seeking adventure.

Respiratory issues, Heart palpitations, irregular heart rhythms, seizures, hypertension, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, Excitations, anxiety, and insomnia.

Party Drugs

Dimenhydrinate

Dimenhydrinate is used to treat vertigo, vomiting, and dizziness associated with motion sickness, meanwhile, it also used by some people to get high, because of its mild euphoric effects and psychoactive properties. It’s not free from any side effects, you must think thousands of times before abusing this drug. Let’s have a look at its adverse effect,

Liver and kidney damage, mood swings and associated depression and anxiety, irregular heart rhythm and heart attacks, itchy skin, delirium, brain damage, and coma.

Ecstasy

It is illegally produced in laboratories and often combined with other stimulants like caffeine or ephedrine. Ecstasy drug is the most popular among youngsters and teenager. In lower doses, it is used to seek euphoria, gives a sense of confidence and pleasure. Simultaneously, it can put you in a medical emergency because it has countless side effects.

Besides these, Increased heart rate, elevated blood pressure nausea, vomiting, it causes hallucination, panic, anxiety, and depression. Ecstasy may lead you to death if taken in a high dose.

Ketamine

Ketamine is used in medical and veterinary practice for initiation and maintaining anesthesia. It has been reported in many sexual assault cases and found at rave parties and night clubs. Ravers and teenagers used ketamine to get temporary Amnesia (temporary memory loss). It makes you sleepy, withdrawn, and dissociated. You may encounter fluctuation in blood pressure, change in heart rhythms, and chest pain.  

Poppers

Poppers are the common argot for the drugs of the class of alkyl nitrite. These are smoked and inhaled directly. An easy source of recreational drugs for ravers and mostly found as room deodorizers. Youngsters and teenagers used poppers in rave parties to become intoxicated and euphoric. These cause the mood elevation and temporary relaxation. Poppers cause tachycardia with extremely low blood pressure by dilating the blood vessels.

GBH

Gamma hydroxybutyrate also is known as Liquid X or Liquid Ecstasy, at low dose ravers use to get artificial euphoria also reported in sexual assault cases. If taken in a slightly higher dose, it causes amnesia, vertigo, vomiting, and dizziness. It will be unfortunate for you if you take GBH in a higher dose because it may lead to loss of consciousness, respiratory depression, and coma.

Ephedrine

It is from the class of amphetamine family and being sold at many places as over the counter, or as herbal weight loss medication. Be aware, it can cause heart attack, strokes, and death.

ICE (Methice, Methamphetamine)

Methamphetamine which is also known as crystal ice, meth-ice, is becoming the most popular addiction in youngsters, teenagers. Since being available in many forms so, it can be smoked, snorted, injected, or taken orally. It has awful effects and causes memory loss, aggression, cardiac and neurological damage.

Rave drugs/ Party Drugs which are the artificial source of euphoria is also associated with drastic and life-threatening side-effects. We should be aware of the awful consequences of rave drugs. It’s always worthless if we get Pleasure, a sense of relaxation, and euphoria at the cost of our life.
